Entrance to the Red Herring
The
Channing-Murray Foundation is known throughout the UIUC campus community
for its good music, great food, and the opportunity to engage in nonjudgmental
spiritual exploration. Writing, dance and arts workshops flourish, and
our chapel hosts a wide array of justice oriented community forums,
concerts, poetry slams, and student theatrical productions. Located
on the corner of Oregon and Mathews, Channing-Murray welcomes everyone
regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious background.
We invite you to come and just be yourself and to participate in activities
and events that appeal to you.

serving vegetarian lunches
Red Herring Vegetarian Restaurant
monday-friday lunch 11 to 3
(NEW DINNER HOURS!)
Dinner from 5-8PM
The
Red Herring Vegetarian Restaurant has been serving the Urbana-Champaign
community for over thirty years. It was started by the Channing-Murray
Foundation as a way to put Unitarian-Universalist principles into action.
The restaurant is non-profit, so all the money we make goes back into
making the restaurant better for our cooks and customers by keeping
our prices accessible to folks trying to live a healthy vegetarian lifestyle.
The Red Herring serves lunch five days a week from 11am-3pm when U of
I is in session. Remember that we love volunteers! Hungry? One
hour of work equals one free meal!

UU Young Adult Group - learn more
join us for dinner and discussion
The Channing-Murray
Young Adult Group will meet from 7-9 pm every Tuesday night when university
classes are in session. We will meet for our potluck supper (codename:
Free Food) and group exploration and conversation. The potluck will
begin at 7pm followed by a 7:30-9 pm conversation. Please note that
you are not required or expected to bring any food to share, but you
may do so if you choose.
Red Herring Coffeehouse
fridays and saturdays: NEW Schedule in the works
Started in 1967, the Red Herring Coffeehouse
has been one of our longest running programs here at Channing Murray
Foundation. By creating a sharing community where any age, religion,
race, style, gender, or sexual preference are welcome, the Red Herring
Coffeehouse aims to create a diverse and open atmosphere. Stop
by for chili, soup of the day, baked goods, snacks, soft drinks, fair
trade organic coffee, music, performance art, and conversation with
friends. We are seeking to create a rich multimedia experience,
so please plan on joining us with your paintings, poetry, prose, comedy,
and music!
